Head Above Water

On my last Off the Deep End drawing, SomeD00dCosplay pitched a scenario he thought would be cute, and I decided it might actually make an interesting drawing, so I went for it. Canonically, it's another scene from the first underwater photo shoot that all four of these kids did together - which I figure was also Brenda's first time going underwater, ever. She would certainly like to be all cool and dive under headfirst like Spencer and Kyle and Jasmine there, but being the cautious shrinking violet she is, she's super-nervous about putting her head under - what if the water stings her eyes, what if it goes up her nose, what if she can't hold her breath, etc. etc. So she just kinda float-walks forward, putting off the inevitable as long as possible, while her bubble-blowing friends skim the pool floor and playfully wait for her to catch up. In water, as in life, everyone moves at their own pace.
