I have a lot of fun finding new ways to bring back spacey New Age girl Denise. I honestly hadn't considered using her beyond that one story from January 1990 at first, but folks dug her so much, I couldn't just leave her at one appearance. You can guarantee she'll be a major player in the Woodstock '94 story once I finally get there, and I feel like she'll have even more to do that year than just tagging along to Saugerties with the rest of the cast. But until then, I couldn't resist having her cross paths with Rick, certainly her polar opposite in terms of personality.

Now, when this went up on the website a few days ago, several people informed me that aluminum cans actually don't have to stay uncrunched before you send 'em off to the recycling center as I'd always believed. I swear I'd always heard that growing up, though. Maybe it was the case in the '90s and the technology has changed, or maybe it was just one of those "common knowledge" things that people just assume is true, but whatever the case, I wish now that I'd done more research before I drew this one. Some people said the gag still works because it makes Denise look just as ignorant as Rick, just in the opposite direction, but that's not really how I want Denise to come across. She's supposed to be very smart, especially when it comes to protecting the environment and stuff like that - her problem is she just won't ever shut up about it.

I didn't find Denise annoying. Rick is a huge scumbag, though.

Also, it kills me when people say "I DID x AN' I TURNED OUWT FINE!"
