--------------------------------------------------

I could afford to go to college and earn a degree in art...if I didn't have to pay my mother $400 a month in rent.

I could move back to my dad's house and save my money...if my mom didn't rely on that monthly $400 to pay the bills.

I could get more hours at work...if I weren't already working 33 hours a week, the most I can get in my current position as a cashier.

I could get a promotion...if I've been at the store for more than a year, which I haven't.

I could get a higher paying job...if some of them were hiring.

I could work two jobs...but then I'd never have any time to see my girlfriend.

Well, this is quite a pickle, isn't it?

Please don't hate me for what I'm about to say, for I mean absolutely no jest, mockery, or ill-will by it. I, too, am currently in a simillar situation.

Be paitent, stay your course, and bide your time. It appears that you are in quite the pinch. Often, when people are in such situations, an opportunity appears that could change the situation for the better.

Don't look out for this opportunity. Let it come to you. And when it does come, don't be afraid to take it. And when you do, remember, always, the road behind so that you don't lose your way.

In the meantime, may I suggest looking into Work at Home opportunities? A lot of them are crooked, but there are some good ones out there.

Hm, yes, that is a pickle indeed - you don't wanna abandon your mum, that's understandable, but in order to make more scratch you need either a better job to crop up or a promotion. My advice probably won't help you out much, JB, but I might as well have a say in it...

Perhaps a second part-time job, something little, so you DO have time to see your girl, but only on certain days. You know what I mean? Other than that, I'd say it's a matter of hanging on. You could continue doing your job for now, because it's better than being broke, and keep hammering away at the local jobcentre. In England here, I've been jobsearching for almost two years, but I know something's gonna come up eventually. I know you're already doing commissions too, there's no point in me saying that, eh?

I hope this helps, if it did.

Peace,
M the H.

Bummer- I know how you feel, Jesse- I've been considering collecting loose change for CoinStar, plus selling some of the comics I don't read anymore. Hope it works out for you, man.

$400 a month from your own mom is outrageous, but you said she's fleecing you because she has no other way of staying afloat. Or is that just what she tells you?

You're in a pickle all right. I'm still more stuck than you though. I have to sit and watch and die of loneliness while everybody around me finds their soulmates out of nowhere. Where did you find that girl anyway? She actually watches cartoons with you? How'd you get someone like that at random? Or was it through a specific Internet dating search?

Boy, that sucks. I'm not all that stressed or overly busy at the moment, but I know that feeling.
