Does anybody own an HP scanner? Specifically an HP ScanJet 4850? Ever tried scanning an image, then opening the file and discovering that the image is cropped and tilted at a 45-degree angle for some reason? And no matter how many times you rescan the image, it keeps coming out irreparably crooked?

'Cause for some reason, THIS HAPPENS TO ME ALL THE FUCKING TIME. I just drew what I think is an awesome picture of Michelle from "Forever 16", but my fucking scanner keeps turning it at weird angles and I can't fix it. It's only HP Scan Pro software that does this - I also have VueScan, and that scans straight every time, but I don't know how to scan 1-bit black-and-white line art at 300 DPI there. Any help, anybody?

I wish I could offer some advice on this one but when it comes to computers I am an idiot.

I hate that feature. You have to go to the properties and turn off automatic cropping and automatic straighten image.

I have an HP model before that one. I haven't run into that issue, beyond....maaybe once or twice? I just rescanned before I accepted the image. Course now that I'm on Win7 that might be a little more difficult to do if that crops up.

I think I used to have one of those kind of scanners, it did that kinda thing to me...

It might be a software glitch, perhaps you should uninstall and reinstall it just in case. Other than that, I have no clue.

I had the same problem with my old computer, so if it's anything, it's probably just some weird technical thing with the scanner itself.
