Splat's All, Folks by jbwarner86 Splat's All, Folks by jbwarner86
Everyone from my generation knows why August 11, 2016 is significant - 25 years ago today, Nickelodeon changed the face of television animation forever with the three-fer premiere of Doug, Rugrats, and The Ren and Stimpy Show, launching the dawn of the Nicktoons and ushering in a boom of wild creator-driven cartoon madness that made the '90s the best damn decade for childrens' television ever :D And the nostalgia is strong with us wise-ass twentysomethings who grew up in this golden age, which is why rumors flew earlier this year that a theatrical animated movie was in the works that'd bring all the Nicktoons characters crashing spectacularly together in one giant cartoon kerblooey of unfathomable awesomeness.

It's still murky as to whether or not those rumors are true. But Doodley wasn't waiting around to find out - he went and made his own trailer for just one such cinematic event, which you can feast your eyes on right here!… And me being me, loving the idea but lacking the ability to animate anything myself, I went ahead and drew what a movie poster for this epic nostalgiabomb might look like. I even started thinking of a plot! It may not ever happen in real life, but as always, man, is it fun to dream. Thanks for 25 years of animated fun, Nickelodeon - here's to 25 more :)

So cool, and yeah it has been confirmed that a Nicktoon movie is in the works! :D This pic is so awesome!
Be interesting if they did it as a 2D drawn movie, but it is probably a CGI movie, which still will be cool! I can't wait to see Norbert and Daggit again! (They have been confirmed to appear!)

Harvey Beaks is a great show that feels more like old school Nick, which is how CH Greenblatt presented the show

I would have added that too

Nick is doing less creator focus shows, and rely too muchbon Spongebob which was on autopilot without Stephen for a while, and hand me down Dreamwork shows

Personally I think kids shows can afford to be more weird, kids have little reference of what are conforting cliches so why bother using those cliches?

90s Nicks took more risks, because kids like to take risks too

So the solution is not banking on nostalgia for an older audience that may see one episode of a reboot or buy a shirt, just for the sake of nostalgia, that's not substantial for a whole tv show run

Kids don't care about old stuff, they want new stuff, because most things are new to them anyway

So I say lets these old franchises die, I don't need a reboot, I can rewatch old stuff anyway, I'm more excited what cool shows kids may make later

Interesting that you put Zim in the centre of the picture, even though Spongebob is the mascot of Nick.
jbwarner86 Featured By Owner Aug 21, 2016
The plot I have in mind for this concept has Zim at the center of it; he's the antagonist, basically, discovering Professor Membrane's new dimensional portal and tipping off the Almighty Tallest to the existence of all the other Nicktoons universes ripe for the conquering. His goofy plot to destroy Earth's defenses against the oncoming Irken armada (involving a large conspicuous satellite dish linked to every electronic device on the planet and a viral video of Gir in his dog suit dancing in the yard like an idiot) is the ticking clock against which Dib and the other characters have to race in their efforts to get all the parallel universes back the way they belong.

As for SpongeBob being so small - well, according to the SpongeBob movies, he actually is that small. Every time he goes on land, he's only like four inches high. I figure Cosmo and Wanda's fishbowl would be the perfect mode of transportation for him, Patrick, and Squidward after their dimension spills over into The Fairly OddParents universe.

In the 90s, I had cable for about six months, so I missed most of these when they were on.

Great tribute!

I've heard about it! And I just finished watching the trailer, and It is AWESOME! I heard that the actual movie might be a hybrid of live action and animation, much like "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" Personally I think that would be epic!!! I love both of your ideas as well! And, I have faith in Nickelodeon! I know that they can do it! NICKTOONS FOREVER!!!!!!!!

I may be beyond my 20s by a few years (will be 34 in November), but I was also blessed to grow up in the 90's with the best cartoons since the Looney Tunes.

I can't say that Nick has ever made anything that's my favorite- because the Nickelodeon stuff that I like is such Scrappy Underdog that I'm distracted by rooting for it's improbable survival, even it's improbable _existence_ while I enjoy the cartoon. Zim, Avatar, Ren and Stimpy, MLAATR, HA, Phantom.
