Simpsony Sketches, Part 1 by jbwarner86 Simpsony Sketches, Part 1 by jbwarner86
I started doing these sketches of random Simpsons characters as part of a planned tribute to the show's upcoming 500th episode - I wanted to do 500 sketches and combine them all together into one massive deviation, posting the finished product on the day the episode airs (probably sometime in early 2012).

But then I got a better idea - why not assemble these sketches and some of the other Simpsons/Futurama fan art I've done into a portfolio and send it off to Bongo Comics so I can start making a career for myself already? A number of artists here on DA have recommended Bongo, since I can ape the Simpsons style so well and one of the company's requirements for an artist position is being able to adhere to a model sheet. I figure it's worth a shot.

Nice sketches. It would've been nice to see a huge combined deviation but I hope you get that comic book job.

Much luck to you - I think you'd be a great artist. Some of the Simpson comics I read have really bad artists who I think you could kick their ass at it! So go break a leg out there pal! Uh, or a pencil, whichever!

Bongo, eh? That's real intersting. One issue of Bart Simpson was SO off model but I can't think of the number. It's like 30 or 40 or something. Let me know if you know what I mean..
So, what I'm saying is, if they allow THAT, I'll be DAMMED if they don't give you a job!

I gotta warn ya, because of the economy and all, comic book publishers aren't willing to take risks with new artists and just stick with their own.

Still, doesn't mean you shouldn't try, your drawings of the Simpsons, mixed with your Looney Tunes influences makes the characters more lively and fun. So go for it!
