Description

Presenting the fourth volume in the "Maxwell Silver Hammer" library! "The Music Comes First...Then You Get the Groupies" would see publication in July 1993, collecting all the strips from May 11, 1992 to February 21, 1993. And since I highly doubt I'll ever actually draw all that, here's the basic story rundowns...

- Tina takes the family to see FernGully: The Last Rainforest and makes them think up ways to help the environment
- Aaron and Joel collaborate to form their own garage band, Westworld. They hire Steve, Aaron's weird friend, as their drummer.
- Abby grows jealous of Michelle for dating Joel and has a nightmare resembling the Amy Fisher/Joey Buttafuoco scandal
- Michelle is offended when she hears that Joel has the hots for Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns
- Inspired by Billy Ray Cyrus, William tries to grow a mullet
- Tina just doesn’t think Jay Leno is funny
- Joel forbids anyone to change the radio station until after “November Rain” by Guns ‘N Roses is over
- Katy slowly goes bonkers as every kid she babysits demands to watch “Barney”
- Michelle and Joel watch the 1992 Summer Olympics and await the verdict of the Reebok Dan and Dave campaign
- Michelle listens to a Westworld rehearsal and can't figure out how to tell Joel that they're not all that great
- Katy’s social life deteriorates as she becomes addicted to “Melrose Place”
- The Maxwell family goes on vacation to EuroDisney; everyone is bored by the lack of European culture
- Inspired by A League of Their Own, Katy organizes an all-girl baseball league at school
- Vice President Dan Quayle speaks at Joel and Katy’s school; Joel and Aaron heckle him by asking him to spell words that end in "o"
- Tina accidentally rents Cool World instead of Who Framed Roger Rabbit and is scandalized by what she sees
- Joel has dinner at Michelle's parents' house and is completely unsure how to act in front of them
- Selina, the Sinead O'Connor-worshipping girl that Joel dated in 1990, becomes a social outcast at school in the wake of O’Connor’s Pope-tearing incident on "Saturday Night Live"
- Joel, Aaron, and Michelle discuss the results of their class’s mock Presidential election
- Westworld gets their first "gig", playing at the birthday party for Tina's friend's 6-year-old son
- Offended by Madonna’s Sex book and Sir Mix-A-Lot’s “Baby Got Back”, Tina writes a protest letter demanding an end to vulgarity in the music industry
- William fails to fit in at the water cooler when he reveals he’s never seen an episode of “Seinfeld”
- After hearing about The Crying Game from Aaron, Joel becomes suspicious of Michelle
- William and Tina go out on Christmas Eve; Joel and Katy must defend the house from burglars a la Home Alone 2
- Tina is furious when William gets Joel “Mortal Kombat” for Christmas
- Joel discovers “Mystery Science Theater 3000” and dreams himself to be trapped in space with Tom Servo and Crow
- Katy and Amy audition to appear on “The Real World”
- A stray cat arrives on the Maxwell’s doorstep; Joel takes him in and names him Tom Servo
- Aaron auditions Michelle as a new vocalist for Westworld, but Joel is so mesmerized by her singing voice that he keeps getting distracted from his guitar playing

The title references the Westworld story arc, and the cover itself is a pop-culture parody that's pretty obscure today, but would have been much more recognizable in 1992/1993 - it's based on the cover for the Spin Doctors' "Pocket Full of Kryptonite" album [link] . Seems fitting, since "Two Princes" is the first song that Westworld plays upon their formation in Aaron's garage.
