I Believe I Can Draw

On the eve of its 20th anniversary, the world has once again become obsessed with Space Jam. I happened to catch it on VH1 this afternoon - in spite of all its glaringly obvious flaws, I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy this film. It's one of my favorite dumb movies, partly due to nostalgia, but partly because I can't really hate a movie that's clearly not trying to be anything more than just big crazy stupid fun.

But that doesn't mean I wouldn't still do several things differently if I had my creative druthers. You might remember I mentioned a while back that I once had an idea for a Space Jam "fix fic" of sorts, one that shifted the focus more onto Bugs Bunny than Michael Jordan. Watching the movie again got my mind-wheels a-turnin', and I doodled out some gag ideas of my own. I especially had fun thinking up stuff for Lola, who's nothing more than a tall curvaceous drink of wasted potential in the movie as it exists. I think it'd be more fun if she actually did things and had a personality.
