Hey, Where's Perry?

I've mentioned in the past that I have a nearly complete collection of Disney Adventures, my favorite magazine from when I was a kid. In the 1990s, each issue was packed with comics, games, sports, entertainment news, noteworthy trivia, and in-depth articles on every fascinating subject imaginable - sharks, race cars, volcanoes, survival tactics, dinosaurs, pretty much anything and everything that's ever been awesome in the eyes of kids.

But by the time publication ceased in November 2007, the magazine had become a pathetic shadow of its former self, basically existing as naught but an 84-page advertisement for the Disney Channel. Every issue was devoted to whatever Disney or Pixar movie was out at the time - and if there wasn't one, they just slapped something together about Hannah Montana or High School Musical. The last issue was practically a mercy kill.

But what if it had kept going? And what if they'd gotten their act together and stopped shilling endlessly for the company that fed them? I got the idea to bust out Photoshop and build my own covers for issues of Disney Adventures that might exist today. It all sprung from my idea for this particular cover - using the magazine's long-standing motif of pairing a celebrity with an animated Disney character on the cover every month, teaming up Katy Perry with Perry the Platypus was too perfect to pass up. I still wanna do more of these, too - it's fun!
