Goodbye, Langley Falls

A couple of years back, I pitched my concept for a "Family Guy" spinoff focusing exclusively on Meg [link] . It certainly has its supporters, but I've kinda grown tired of the idea in recent years - the more I look at Meg, the less she seems able to carry her own show.

On the contrary, I now think Hayley from "American Dad" would be a much better candidate for something like this. Like Meg, she's frequently ignored by her current writing staff - but unlike Meg, it's not because she lacks the personality to do anything interesting. We know who she is, what she wants, what she believes, and how she lives and interacts with others. With her strong will, creative spirit, and fiery personality, there's still tons of stuff a girl like her could do...but as long as she's on the same show as Stan and Steve and Roger, she's not going to get to do any of it. And being married to Jeff doesn't help either - their relationship was much funnier when she kept dumping him every other week.

So the way I see it, Hayley realizes she made a huge mistake in getting married at 18 years old and sets off on her own, going off to a genuine four-year college to redefine her life. I still need to think up some new characters for her to interact with, but at least I've got a start here.
