I can't help but draw influence from professional comic strip artists when I write Forever 16. And while the 1990s strips are heavily influenced by Bill Amend's "FoxTrot", the 2000s strips are more like Aaron McGruder's "The Boondocks". Case in point - this politically satirical story from November 2001. In the paranoid atmosphere of post-9/11 America, Michelle's got to be a lot more careful with what she Googles.

The sad thing is, I could actually see this happen, not do long ago.

I'd like to think we're past that, but from what I've been hearing, there's still a long way to go before the damages done in the first decade on the 21st Century can be repaired.

Lo funny and ouch for Michelle

Oh. They got Jocelyn. What does the arrest site look like? You can't tell me that a girl like that doesn't know how to hurt people while tied up. Jos and the metal detector should have gotten it's own strip.
They probably arrested Michelle as much for her bun hat as her political views.

Seriously, saying 'military intelligence' sometimes is an oxymoron.

And no wonder Jocelyn is such a rebel; her parents are both idiots.

She still has that problem today (NDAA, more warrantless wiretapping) - face it, we're as screwed as Obama as we were under Bush.

I disagree, "Screwed during repairs" is still screwed, but is less screwed then "Intentionally screwed plus more screwed going on elsewhere". You just have to accept a baseline of screwed and try to keep your grasp on "Slightly less screwed untill Monday." All in all, Obama can't do much about "Screwed by holdovers of the guys who broke stuff in the first place" which no-one gives him credit for not being.
