F16 - La Resistance Lives On by jbwarner86 F16 - La Resistance Lives On by jbwarner86
I couldn't let the summer of 1999 go by without paying homage to the film that had everybody talking...with exceptionally dirty language, no less. South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut is already an incredibly sharp satire, so rather than making fun of it, I just sort of wound up having Joel and his friends go through the same dilemma that Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny found themselves in.

Despite not being a mega pan of SP, I know several friends who would love this particular story immensely... :XD:

PS: Fun, fun, fun expressions and poses. Jenny's scene did it for me XD

I can imagine if this series was on Comedy Central, two little words, "cross-promotion".
Nice work

She has a point on the "crudely animated" part. Cartoons like South Park were never really my cup of tea anyway.

In the movies defense, it was really their fault. Even when i was around that age, i always pretend that i didn't see any movie like that. I actually saw that movie when i was around nine, my parents just told me not to curse that much anyway because they know i watch the show too at the time.

I wanted to pull a Darby Conley, using the comic strip method of censoring curse words with ampersands and pound signs and stuff but actually making each symbol correspond to a specific letter so readers could decode the swears if they tried hard enough. But a bunch of those symbols don't exist in the font I use, so I figured "Ah, to hell with it" and just put 'em up uncensored. Realistically, they'd never run in a newspaper this way, so consider this the "director's cut". :)

Watching a movie is just watching a movie. If the gang wern't stuck in dumbell mode they wouldn't be in trouble, so it's thier own faults for once. I'm surprized that it wasn't about Joel's mom in a rabid over-the-top NIMBY overreaction. There are problems in both movie and life about women who only want something to vent puffed-up bossy outrage at so that they can pretend that they are 'being parenting.' Perhaps Michelle can pin the Blame Canada song on Animaniacs?

This is basically how I imagined my life would go, had I see that movie at that age.

This takes place in the 90's, right?

At various times between 1990 and the present. I put the date on every strip, so you can always figure it out - these are set in July 1999.

Between you and me, most of my comics that take place in modern times actually take place in the 90's.

Man, I remember how everyone in elementary school watched the show and the movie, and everyone was swearing and stuff.
I didn't get into South Park until I was in college, and I think I was better for it.

"Y'know, I learned something today..." yup, so many Southy Parky references here! Saw that film age nine. Vocabulary doubled by age ten. Now it's trendy to NOT swear these days. :)
