So after I redesigned Katy's friend Ashleigh for "Maxwell Silver Hammer", I realized that I still had a void to fill - the "Blossom" look didn't catch on until late 1991, but the strip starts in January 1990. How did Ashleigh look for those first 20 months? Like this, that's how. She's always at the height of fashion, even as the 1980s get dragged kicking and screaming into the ashbin of popular culture. The fanny pack, the slap bracelet, the huge clunking Walkman equipped with Paula Abdul's latest...jeez, would somebody please invent alternative rock?
